  1. Overall Purpose of Job:
  • To provide ministerial and pastor leadership and support for the East London branch of Praise Harvest Community Church
  • Administrative and other related paperwork
  • To provide counselling and ministerial support to the congregation of the East London branch of Praise Harvest Community Church (PHCC)
  • To provide pastoral assistance in the absence of the head pastor.
  1. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and give sermons, talks or ceremonies
  • Prepare people for religious ceremonies
  • Pray and promote spiritually build a community of faith, and work on developing relationships and networks within the east London community
  • Visit people in their homes, at hospitals and in prisons
  • Talk to people with problems, such as helping them make decisions about their spiritual life, or deal with bereavement
  • Refer people to community support services, psychologists or doctors
  • Carry out associated administrative work
  • Assist in co-ordinating volunteers or church community groups
  • Train leaders for church, community and youth leadership.
  1. Education, Qualification, and Special Training
  • Educated to a Diploma level or University level standard or equivalent
  • At least 1 year full time Bible college/relevant training or equivalent
  • Must be an ordained minister with rights and privileges after training.
  1. Knowledge, Skill and Experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a pastoral role, ideally able to communicate with precision and accuracy
  • Knowledge of history, spirituality, traditions and ceremonies of the Christian religion
  • Knowledge of the diverse culture of the community in London especially the ethnic minority group and immigrants
  • Able to fluently communicate in one Ghanaian/Kenyan language apart from English

  • People skills and knowledge of human behaviour and relationships
  • An understanding of life issues such dealing with grief and bereavements
  • Counselling and conflicts resolution skills
  • Communication and listening skills
  • Public speaking skills
  • Able to speak at least one Ghanaian and Kenyan language

  • Time management skills.
